Greenfield is an actively managed private investment specialist focused on financial service companies pursuing AI-led transformations. We deploy a combination of proprietary technology, domain expertise, and operational capability directly into the financial services companies we invest in. The result is measurable, permanent valuation unlock.
Our approach accelerates technology adoption across our portfolio company partners, driving diversified revenue growth and improved profitability. The result is higher return-on-equity, stronger implied price-to-book valuations, and the ability to pursue more accretive acquisitions that compound shareholder returns over time.
Our disciplined approach is built on five core principles that guide every investment decision.
Ian founded Greenfield to invest in financial services companies pursuing technology-led transformation strategies. Most recently, he led the transformation of a German institution into one of Europe's top-performing private commercial banks. His approach combines disciplined operational expertise with digital modernization and technology-enabled enhancement at scale.
Ian was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Hamburg Commercial Bank and Chief Investment Officer of Bank of America, chairing the company's Asset and Liability Committee, and a member of the Finance and Management Committees. For 12 years he was also a member and chairman of the United States Treasury's Borrowing Advisory Committee.
Our senior team brings deep experience in financial services, technology, and investment management. Greenfield's strategy is grounded in a history of partnering with financial services businesses through periods of structural change. Across market cycles, we have supported management teams in modernizing operating models, strengthening balance sheets, and executing technology-led transformations that enhance profitability, accelerate growth, and create lasting valuation impact for shareholders.
